Lynchburg Injury Trial Lawyer
Osterbind Law is a plaintiff-side personal injury firm in Central Virginia. We handle car accidents, pedestrian accidents, premises liability cases, tractor-trailer collisions, workers’ compensation, wrongful death, and ERISA disability claims. We run a team-based model — every case gets the full firm behind it, not a solo attorney working in isolation.
We are hiring an experienced trial attorney to join our growing team.
Are You The Attorney we are looking for?
You are an experienced lawyer who has spent real time in courtrooms. You’re comfortable carrying a docket, talking to clients about hard things, examining witnesses, and pushing back on opposing counsel when the facts and the law support it. You want to do work that matters with people who care about doing it well. You are someone we can go to battle with.
Required
- Active Virginia State Bar license in good standing
- 5–8 years of practice as a licensed attorney
- Substantial courtroom experience — trial work, motions practice, or contested hearings. This can come from civil litigation, prosecution, criminal defense, or a combination.
- Strong written and verbal advocacy
- Ability to manage a caseload independently while collaborating with the team
Preferred
- Plaintiff personal injury experience (auto, pedestrian, premises liability, trucking, workers’ comp, wrongful death)
- Jury trial experience
- Fluency with Virginia’s contributory negligence standard and how it shapes case strategy
- Familiarity with civil discovery, depositions, and written motions practice (not required — we will train the right person)
- Relationships in the Central Virginia legal community
Coming from prosecution or criminal defense?
We want to hear from you. The courtroom skills that matter most in personal injury work — credibility with juries, witness examination, evidentiary mastery, and clear thinking under pressure — are exactly what prosecutors and experienced defense lawyers spend years developing. Civil discovery, depositions, and written motions practice are learnable. We will invest in training the right candidate on the procedural side. Our co-founder made this same transition from prosecution to plaintiff personal injury practice.
What you’ll do
- Manage a docket of personal injury matters from intake through resolution or trial
- Lead client communication, discovery, depositions, mediations, and hearings
- Evaluate liability, damages, and case strategy
- Negotiate with adjusters and defense counsel
- Collaborate with firm attorneys and staff on complex or high-value cases
